American Red Cross of the Silicon Valley welcomes new board members for 2018-19 year

SAN JOSE, CA – August 15, 2018 — The Board of Directors of the American Red Cross of the Silicon Valley began the new fiscal year on July 1 with five new members. The newly elected board members, added in recent months, are:

  • Michelle Acosta, Marketing Director, Acosta Sheet Metal Manufacturing
  • Nisha Baxi, Director of Marketing and Evangelism, Salesforce
  • Eve Dreyfuss, Tax Partner, Moss Adams LLP
  • Jolie Nguyen, Student, Presentation High School
  • Tiffany Nguyen, Student, Ann Sobrato High School

Officers who will lead the Silicon Valley Chapter board during the 2018-19 year are:

  • Terry Unter, Chair; Former Hi-Tech Executive
  • Thu-Thuy Truong, Vice-Chair; Co-Founder, VP of Marketing, TTi, Inc.
  • Joe Siecinski, Secretary; Owner, ActionCOACH of Santa Clara

In addition, in early July the board approved the addition of Tami Cabaniss, Vice President of People at Paypal, who will be officially elected during this fiscal year.

“As we begin the new fiscal year, we are excited by the potential of our new members and by the experience of our officers,” says Ken Toren, CEO of the American Red Cross of Silicon Valley. “The support of each and every board member is critical to the work our Chapter does for the residents of Santa Clara County.”

During the past fiscal year, that work was very impactful, Toren says. “Our volunteers responded to an average of three home fires every week, providing care, comfort and hope; installed more than 1,500 smoke alarms to make families safer; and assisted members of the armed forces and their families.”
